Jane was elected to the Vermont Senate representing the Caledonia/Orange District in 2004 and serves as Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee. During her years of service Jane has: Helped design Vermont’s financial response to Tropical Storm Irene’s devastation to state highway infrastructure and buildings     Worked to give property tax relief to towns and homeowners hardest hit by flood damage     Chaired Senate Appropriations Committee which passed balanced budgets in times of declining revenues without raising broad-based taxes       Successfully fought off a raid on the Higher Education Trust Fund which provides financial help to Vermont College Students     Supported the expansion and development of Vermont’s agricultural economy by funding the Working Landscape Initiative     Preserved several hundred high paying area jobs by spearheading an Equipment Investment Tax Credit that brought state-of-theart manufacturing equipment to local business                               Communities that keep Vermont strong..
