To the Editor:
Among the many benefits of living in a small state like Vermont
is the unique opportunity to be able to actually come to know and
work with our elected state legislators; and to truly recognize
and evaluate what they have to offer their constituents in their
elected role of public service in a representative government. During
the past twelve years that I have had the honor of serving as chair
person of the Fairlee Selectboard, I have had the opportunity to
come to know and work with State Senator Jane Kitchel representing
the citizens of Caledonia and Orange Counties.
Senator Kitchel has time and again demonstrated a clear, practical,
and pragmatic sense of public service and constituent representation.
She has shown the unique ability to approach problem solving in
a non-partisan manner and to work well with a wide array of legislators
and other public officials. As one of Fairlee's two State Senators,
Jane Kitchel has worked hard and is always available and attentive
to our community's needs and concerns-her only interest being results-not
publicity. The fact that she knows the inner workings of State government
so well is clearly a unique and added benefit. In spite of being
a State Senator who does know her way around State government as
well as she does has never caused her to be at all condescending
or otherwise dismissive or disregarding of local community government.
In fact her respect for and appreciation of the local boards that
govern our communities is to be recognized and commended.
In summary, Senator Kitchel has worked hard and earned my solid
respect and support. She listens more then she talks; and she intelligently
asks more questions then she states opinions or "facts".
Jane Kitchel clearly deserves to be re-elected to her seat in the
Vermont State Senate so as to further represent all of the citizens
of Caledonia and Orange Counties. I whole heartedly ask you to give
her your consideration and vote this Novermber.
